Outreach

Mid-Central Research and Outreach Center

The Johnson Lab’s outreach efforts focus on connecting with poultry producers and the next generation of scientists in out state Minnesota. To that end, Dr. Johnson spends a great deal of time at the Mid-Central Research and Outreach (MCROC) Laboratory in Willmar, Minnesota. MCROC enables us to perform collaborative and innovative research with poultry producers and to interact with students of all ages in that area. We enjoy K-12 student visits. For example, last year MCROC hosted gifted and talented students from the Willmar area to talk about germs and tour our laboratory.

Poultry Health Certificate

The poultry faculty at the University of Minnesota is actively developing adaptable, accessible, and affordable education opportunities for poultry professionals. Dr. Johnson recently led the development of the Poultry Health Certificate, which is a 12-credit graduate program offered completely online with a flexible pace.
